Breathe and Stretch With Me!

Join me for a special yoga and mindfulness class just for kids ages 5-11! We'll learn empowering yoga poses, relaxing yoga poses, and simple mindfulness tools. This class is perfect for kids who want to begin their yoga journey, learn about mindfulness, or simply move their body with other kids their age.

Join me Fridays from 10 - 10:45 am!

Kids are invited to wear comfortable clothing they can move around in (i.e., yoga clothes, sweatpants, or other clothing you'd wear to the gym). Yoga classes will be on the gentle side and accessible to all. They are especially created for kids. If you have a yoga mat, you're encouraged to bring it, but I have plenty to share if you don't have one. Kids will have the opportunity to take off their shoes, so please plan accordingly.

A parent or guardian must register their child and fill out a safety form and waiver prior to arrival (forms will be sent after registration).

Parents and guardians are welcome to sit in our gathering space during class or walk to the nearby coffeehouse. If your child would prefer you stay with them, that's fine too!


About the Presenter

Amy JacksonAmy Jackson is founder and director of The Perch located in Aurora, Illinois. She is the author of Unhurried: A 52-Week Meditative Bible Reading Guide and 31 Days of Self Kindness, an RYT-200 yoga teacher, and a certified Wellness and Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator. Jackson also holds an M.A. in Christian Formation and Ministry from Wheaton College. She spends time leading retreats, teaching about soul care, and helping all sorts of people discover yoga. She is passionate about helping people reconnect with their bodies, give themselves kindness, and live out their calling in healthy, flourishing ways.

FAQ

What will we do during yoga class?

Amy Jackson will teach a 45-minute accessible kids yoga class that focuses on yoga that feels good in our bodies. It's a perfect way to introduce yoga to your kids or grandkids and help them discover the power of moving their body in a mindful way. We will also talk about mindfulness and try out calming breathing techniques.

Is this yoga class for all ages?

No. This specific class is only for kids ages 5-11.

What should I bring to yoga class?

Please have your child wear comfortable clothing they can move freely in. If you have a yoga mat, you're encouraged to bring it along, but I do have a few to share if you don't have one. Kids will be invited to take off their shoes, so plan accordingly. Any additional props or materials they'll need will be provided.

What if my kid has never practiced yoga before?

Yoga classes at The Perch are intentionally inclusive to all. This class in particular is designed for kids just getting started.

What if I register but my kid can't make it to class?

We'll miss you! It's up to you if you want to let me know. Some students email me, and some don't. In general, I don't give refunds or credits for missed classes.
